IETA urges European Commission to consider broader ETS reform options, October 9 2012 |

Today IETA released comments submitted to the European Commission as part of its consultation on a proposal to shift (or backload) Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) allowances from early year auctions to later years in phase 3 of the program. IETA urged that backloading should be considered alongside a broader set of reform options to addess the build up of an oversupply of allowances during times of economic crises - or undersupply in times of growth.
