Regional Carbon Pricing & Markets Virtual Series - AFRICA Edition

We are delighted to announce the launch of the REGIONAL CARBON PRICING & MARKETS VIRTUAL SERIES, jointly organized by IETA, The World Bank and the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC).  We are thrilled to inaugurate this series with the first edition focused on AFRICA.

The ongoing efforts to put in place carbon pricing policies and measures, as well as develop carbon markets in Africa, while limited, provide good starting points to reflect on the learnings and see where the expertise has been developed. To enable broader use of CPIs in Africa, more needs to be done to build a robust narrative and case for the application as complementary tools to support climate action and development.

This event will look at present action on Carbon Pricing and Markets in Africa, and how to close the gap.  We will analyse latest developments across the continent, and the role that Africa can play in helping to deliver the goals of the Paris Agreement. We will feature updates on how carbon markets can both increase climate ambition and play a vital role in post-pandemic recoveries as Governments look to re-start their economies. This edition will foster a discussion delving into different perspectives, looking at opportunities at the subnational and national level, as well as the relevance and contribution to mobilizing finance and investment in support of climate action and development.
