IETA calls for EU and UK ETS linkages

BRUSSELS, 29 April – In the run up to the EU-UK Summit on 19 May, a wide group of EU and UK stakeholders is calling the European Commission and the UK Government to announce the intention to initiate the EU-UK ETS linking negotiations at the Summit to unlock the full potential of renewables in Europe and remove unnecessary policy barriers between the two regions. Given the current geopolitical context and uncertainty over global trade, a stronger EU-UK cooperation is crucial to enhance European competitiveness and energy security.
