This report summarises insights from a high-level policy dialogue jointly convened by IETA and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) on the role of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in advancing India’s low-carbon transition.
The dialogue brought together representatives from government, industry, research, and civil society to discuss the current state of carbon market development, emerging partnership models, and pathways to strengthen India’s leadership in high-integrity carbon markets. It was held in New Delhi on 8 October 2025.
Discussions underscored that effective implementation of Article 6 can help mobilise climate finance, enhance domestic decarbonisation, and foster international cooperation. Participants highlighted the need for a robust, transparent market framework aligned with national climate goals, building on lessons from the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
