DUBAI, 9 December – At its annual general meeting on 8 December, IETA members elected a new Chair and Vice Chairs, and welcomed two new members to its governing Council.

“I am excited to work with Enric, Mary and Federico in this vibrant time of market expansion and innovation in delivering net zero climate ambition,” said Dirk Forrister, IETA President and CEO. “They bring deep experience and insight that will guide our work. I am also indebted to outgoing Chair Lisa DeMarco for her outstanding leadership over her two-year term.”

IETA’s membership also elected two new Council members, Julie Mulkerin Ortiz of Chevron and Sandeep Roy Choudhury of VNV Advisory Services. They will replace Arthur Lee of Chevron and Belinda Ellington of Citi who are stepping down.

In addition to the chair and vice-chairs, as well as Julie and Sandeep, the Council also comprises Takashi Hongo (Mitsui), Jonathan Shopley (Climate Impact Partners), Lisa DeMarco (Resilient LLP), Kerry Liebenberg (Linklaters), Abyd Karmali (Bank of America Merrill Lynch), Daniele Agostini (ENEL), Rick Saines (Pollination Group), Ingrid Parramon (bp), Jonathan Grant (Rio Tinto), Hendrik Rosenthal (CLP), Liv Rathe (Norsk Hydro), Paul Dawson (RWE) and Leslie Durschinger (Terra Global Capital).

The Annual General Meeting also honored Angela Churie Kallhauge and Nick Campbell as IETA Fellows, its annual tribute to individuals who have made outstanding  contributions to the carbon market and its professional community.

Angela is presently executive vice president for impact at the Environmental Defense Fund. Previously she led the secretariat of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition for five years, and worked for 14 years on climate change, energy and development issues at the Swedish Energy Agency.

“Angela and Nick deserve high praise for the enormous roles they have played in building the carbon market profession” said Forrister. “They have inspired and encouraged many of us with their commitment, insight and enthusiasm for delivering the Paris climate goals through market innovation.”
