IETA announces new Council members and appoints new Fellows at its Annual General Meeting in Paris

Paris, 8 December - At its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Paris on 4 December 2025, IETA elected three new members to its Council and appointed two new IETA Fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the development of carbon markets and international climate cooperation.

The newly elected Council members are:

  • Charles Hernick - Head of Environmental Policy, Amazon
  • Cédric de Meeûs - Chief Public Policy and Government Relations Officer, Holcim
  • Frederick Teo - CEO, GenZero

They replace Daniele Agostini of Enel, Jonathan Grant of Rio Tinto and Liv Rathe of Norsk Hydrowho completed their terms after years of valuable service to IETA’s governance and mission.

“IETA is fortunate to benefit from such highly experienced and committed leaders at a time when carbon markets are scaling globally,” said Dirk Forrister, IETA President & CEO. “We warmly welcome our new Council members and extend our deep appreciation to those stepping down for their dedication and the important role they played in strengthening IETA over the years.”

At the AGM, two distinguished climate and policy leaders were also appointed as IETA Fellows, recognising their long-standing commitment to advancing market-based climate solutions:

  • Kazuhisa Koakutsu - Director of the Paris Agreement Article 6 Implementation Partnership Centre
  • Tom Wilson  -  Principal Technical Executive in the Integrated Grid and Energy Systems Division at EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute)

The IETA Fellowship honours individuals who have made significant, lasting contributions to the evolution of carbon markets and international climate policy. This year’s Fellows join a respected community of past recipients whose leadership has shaped the global market landscape.

“I am deeply honoured to be recognised by IETA for my work on advancing technology strategies to address climate change,” said Tom Wilson. “For more than two decades, IETA has been instrumental in shaping global carbon markets, an essential pathway for turning research into real-world solutions. I look forward to continuing our collaboration to deliver large-scale, cost-effective, and measurable emission reductions.”
