IETA and OGCI, in collaboration with Transition Finance, present the ALMA Brasil Report, a strategic overview capturing key lessons on implementing nesting within jurisdictional REDD+ programmes, based on the experience of the state of Pará.
Over the past two years, ALMA Brasil has served as a platform for dialogue, learning, and capacity building, bringing together governments, companies, standards, project developers, and civil society. The initiative advanced a roadmap for designing and implementing nesting that can, over time, be scaled to support other jurisdictions across the Amazon and beyond.
The leadership of the Government of Pará, together with the dedicated contribution of its implementation partners, the Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia (IPAM) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), was instrumental in achieving this progress. The process was further enriched by the engagement of multiple stakeholders committed to advancing integrity in forest carbon markets.
Beyond its technical outcomes, ALMA Brasil has helped to:
The lessons emerging from Pará underscore the importance of transparency, governance, risk mapping, and interoperable tracking systems — all essential to a coherent and credible REDD+ ecosystem.
As a collaborative platform, ALMA Brasil remains ready to support jurisdictions seeking to reinforce their REDD+ strategies and scale high-integrity climate solutions across the Amazon and beyond.
