26th Annual IEA-IETA-EPRI Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading

Background information

The 26th annual workshop organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA), International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and EPRI will take place across four sessions on 1–3 December 2026. This invitation-only event will be held in-person at IEA Headquarters (9 rue de la Fédération, 75739 Paris Cedex 15, France).

Over the years, this workshop has become a flagship event in the carbon market calendar, bringing together senior government representatives, corporate leaders and leading experts from around the world. It provides a key forum to exchange views on the latest developments in carbon markets and emissions trading systems. The programme combines presentations based on recent research with interactive discussions, all conducted under the Chatham House Rule.

The workshop will be organised over three days as follows (timings are indicative at this stage): 

  • Day 1: Tuesday, 1 December, from 13:30 to 18:30 CET
  • Day 2: Wednesday, 2 December, from 09:00 to 17:30 CET
  • Day 3: Thursday, 3 December, from 09:00 to 12:30 CET

  • The role of carbon markets in security-driven energy transitions
  • The reform of the EU ETS
  • Early experiences in CORSIA implementation
  • Carbon accounting reforms and implications for carbon markets
  • The use of international carbon credits in compliance markets
  • Carbon pricing and industrial competitiveness
  • Best practices in the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
  • Experiences across Asia in developing new carbon markets
